San Cristóbal: Canyon, Viewpoints & Chiapa de Corzo Tour - Sumidero Canyon viewpoints and the Tuesday closure reality

2.San Cristóbal: Canyon, Viewpoints & Chiapa de Corzo Tour

★★★★★★★★★★4.7 · 231 reviews · 8 - 9 hours · from $85

San Cristóbal day trip to Sumidero Canyon and Chiapa de Corzo, with miradores and a shared boat ride to spot crocodiles and more.

“The boat ride was amazing. We had a very good guide who stopped and pointed out all kinds of details in perfect weather. Organization was smooth, and our driver/guide was friendly and helpful too. Personally though, the trip to the viewpoints wouldn't have been necessary. The amazing perspective is inside the canyon, and it's not that the viewpoints are on the way: They add about 2 hours pure driving to the trip, thereby making the first lunch opportunity more of a linner. We also didn't quite understand why we stopped at different hotels on the way out to pick up more guests, we only had the option of joining in…”

From San Cristóbal: Chamula and Zinacantán Guided Tour - Zinacantán Weaving Cooperative: Waist Loom Work You Can Actually See

3.From San Cristóbal: Chamula and Zinacantán Guided Tour

★★★★★★★★★★4.4 · 203 reviews · 5 hours · from $32

Guided day trip from San Cristóbal to Chamula and Zinacantán, with church rituals, waist-loom weaving, tortillas, and Pox tasting.

“Miguel spoke great English, he explained everything, which meant we understood everything we saw. I was expecting that the weaving shop in Zinacantán would be very touristy but it’s not. The women working there are genuinely happy. Chamula church was as different as a church can be. I liked the smell of pine leaves, the candles and seeing the genuine rituals taking place. All that, and more, was explained by Miguel. Good trip. Better to go with a guide and Miguel was excellent.”

4.San Cristóbal: Agua Azul, Misol Ha & Palenque Experience

★★★★★★★★★★4.3 · 186 reviews · from $69

Day trip from San Cristóbal to Agua Azul, Misol Ha, and Palenque ruins with AC transport and entrance fees included, meals extra.

“I really recommend this trip, particularly if you just do one way and stay in Palenque (easy to get buses on)! Its definitely long and windy but you get to see so so so much of the stunning Chiapas region in short span of time. The sights are all incredible - swims and then the ruins. I don't speak Spanish and was worried about having Spanish only driver, but I was totally fine, we worked it out easily. The driver is really just that, he isn't a guide, so can work out meet times etc. I really recommend getting the guide at the ruins. Its pricey but we split it…”

“La excursión está bien y se recomienda si estás varios días y tienes tiempo en San Cristóbal, ya que el paisaje es alucinante. Como punto de mejora/recomendación diría que estaría mejor empezar algo antes la actividad para así poder estar más tiempo en Chiapa de Corzo y comer tranquilamente. Importante llevar efectivo para las paradas y propinas.”

10.From San Cristóbal: Agua Azul and Palenque Day Trip

★★★★★★★★★★4.2 · 75 reviews · 19 hours · from $98

Day trip from San Cristobal to Agua Azul, Misol-Ha, and Palenque with air-con transport and park fees, ending in Palenque or home.

“This activity was amazing. We choose it as practical way to continue our trip from Palenque. Consider to wake up early and the time spent on the bus. Although it's a great chance to see a lot of small rural villages along the way. We had enough time to visit the places, only Palenque was a bit tight but doable. Our drive really made this activity exceptional. He was very kind, flexible, and really cared about the passengers, telling stories about Chiapas (in Spanish). I'd recommend it.”

Sumidero Canyon, Miradores del Cañón and Pueblo Chiapa de Corzo. - The 1.5-hour boat cruise: wildlife spotting and canyon walls up close

11.Sumidero Canyon, Miradores del Cañón and Pueblo Chiapa de Corzo.

★★★★★★★★★★4.0 · 70 reviews · 8 hours (approx.)

See Miradores del Cañón del Sumidero, enjoy a 1.5-hour boat cruise, and spend time in Chiapa de Corzo on an 8-hour day trip.

“De bezochte plaatsen op zich waren geweldig! Prachtige watervallen, mooie ruines,... De organisatie ervan was een ramp, zeker als je niet vloeiend spaans spreekt... We werden als laatste opgepikt waardoor we op de achterbank moesten zitten terwijl alle anders passagiers een luxe stoel hadden die een heel stuk achteruit kon. We betaalden nochtans dezelfde prijs. Alle uitleg is in het spaans, op zich geen probleem, echter hoorde wij niets achteraan en moesten we telkens opnieuw vragen waar en hoe laat we terug moesten zijn. Bij Palenque liep het helemaal mis. Wij zaten mooi op tijd te wachten aan de uitgang (salida) van het park maar de bus stond te wachten…”

Sumidero Canyon boat cruise and Chiapa de Corzo culture in one full day from San Cristóbal, with hotel pickup and transport.

“We made this tour as 4 people with Gonzalo on March 24, 2025. I travel a lot and this tour was the worst experience I ever had. The tour supposed to start at 9 am, but nobody showed up. After trying to contact them and GYG for 45 minutes, tour provider and GYG solved the issue and agreed to take us at 10 am, 1 hour later than usual. Our “tour guide” was not an actual guide but a person who knew the area. He didn’t speak English, although we HAVE paid for an English tour. We arrived to the port for the boats for Sumidero Canyon. A group left…”
